FAQs: General
-
A fire pit ring adapter is available to be used in this scenario. The adapter creates a shelf on the top edge of your fire pit ring so you can place your rotisserie unit there. Building your fire in a “log cabin” style will help to get the heat and fire up to the level of your rotisserie.
-
With a simple DC to AC converter, the rotisserie can run off your car battery (cigarette lighter or direct connection). These converters can be purchased at most auto supply stores, hardware stores, or through online retailers.
-
A 9v battery should allow your rotisserie to run for 24-30 hours. Your average cook time may be around 2.5 hours, which means you could easily get around 10 uses from a single battery!
-
It is best to store your rotisserie in a dry location. A few encounters with rain shouldn’t damage the rotisserie but may rust your battery connector, which is why this part is available as a replacement part for purchase.
-
Each unit it tested for fit and function before shipping, this occasionally results in some scratches. Your unit will hopefully have a well-loved patina after just one cookout anyway!
-
This allows for thermal expansion. All the moving parts need room to grow as they warm up.
FAQs: Cooking
-
Cooking will take about 30% longer than conventional cooking, use this extra time wisely… maybe crack another beer, tell some funny jokes, learn to juggle. This is similar to smoking meat, low and slow but with enough heat to get that crispy skin. For more detailed cooking information check out the page titled COOKING TIPS
-
The standoff lifts the meat slightly above the height of the drip pan which allows heat to circulate beneath the meat and provides a more direct heat to the lower portion of the stack where the meat is likely stacked a bit wider. The standoff also prevents the meat from sitting in its own juices so you can end up with those crispy, rotisseried morsels you’ve been dreaming of!
-
That typically happens when the unit is not level. It’s nothing to worry about. Next time try it on level ground or adjust the levelling glides and you’ll notice much smoother rotation.
-
First, be sure the breeze is blowing the fire towards the rotisserie. Secondly, the heat reflectors will be your best friend on breezy days or when you want to speed up cooking by trapping the heat close to the meat.
-
Cooking with fire is an inexact science, but one way to combat uneven cooking is to allow your meat to come to room temperature prior to cooking. Heat reflectors should also help by creating a more regulated cooking environment.
-
Always place your unit alongside the fire, not in the fire. Also, be sure the unit is positioned with the heat shield towards the fire, and the cord on the opposite side, running out of the fire pit or brick oven, and not through hot coals. When used in an enclosed space (pizza oven or offset smoker), be sure the temperature around the base unit does not exceed 250 degrees F.

Our system actually spins and rotates to provide a true Vertical Rotisserie experience and ensure the most even cooking. Our system is meant to be used in fire pits and is easily accessible to shave off the meat as the outer layers are cooked.
