In the beginning was a love affair with fire, food, and friends.

But the grill was on the deck, and the friends were congregating around the fire in the backyard…without us.

It was that disconnect that shifted our focus to fire centric cooking.  We no longer cook for an event, cooking is the event!  

As a family that loves to travel the world, we’ve experienced a wealth of amazing flavors…from Vietnamese to Moroccan to Peruvian and more!  Recreating those flavors at home wasn’t just about expanding our dinner options, it was about creating experiences, savoring moments, reconnecting and sharing with friends. 

While many flavors could be approximated using standard provisions, nothing compares to the taste of flame-kissed, slow roasted meats like gyro, al pastor, shawarma or doner kebab and they all had one thing in common: Trompo style vertical cooking.  There just wasn’t a great way to do that around the fire without requiring our constant attention.

With an engineer’s mind, a bit of backyard tinkering, a motorcycle sprocket and a pie plate, our first outdoor vertical rotisserie prototype was created!  Based on bellies full of mouthwateringly juicy meat, zero leftovers, and plenty of time to actually connect with our friends and families while dinner sizzled in front of us, we knew we had come up with something special.

Many refinements later, we’re so excited to not only share the vertical rotisserie with you, but we hope to bring your family and friends together around the fire to create memories of your own!
